Jon was riding through the fords of Beruna. His mare, Midnight, was her usual self today and that greatly relieved him. He didn't think he could deal with any drama tonight, seeing as how tired he was. Jon sighed as he ran a hand through his coal black hair. His eyes were a light sapphire, meaning that he had many things to think about. Chief in his memories was the first time that he had met the Pevensie children. Jon was only twenty years old and it was the first year that he had been made commander of the guards. A smile was spread across his face as he remembered the duel he had with Peter.
He had doubt that Peter wasn't no good with a sword. But the high king had showed him. There was joy in his face while he was watching the crowning of the four. He shook his head to clear his thoughts. His eyes become like cold stones as he searched through the darkness. He thought he had heard the sound of a twig snapping into two. But then again it could have been my imagination, he mused. Jon pulled out his sword just in case. His eyes were alert.

Lina had been relaxing, enjoying the world, it was all so new to her still. She enjoyed the fact that she could go out and do whatever she pleased, the freedom was refreshing. It was dark, and she was debating heading home. She turned to leave, steping on a twig, cracking it in two.
She turned hearing the drawing of a sword. She held her hands up in defence, turning to the man on the horse, and stepping into the moonlight, to give him a better view, hoping that he would understand that she meant no harm.
"Please put down your sword, kind sir, I mean no harm... and I am unarmed." she cooed gently. She sent him a soft smile, her body still tense. She spoke the truth, there would be nothing she could do to protect herself if he did act with his sword. She looked him over. No doubt, he was skilled with the weapon.

Jon glanced down at a young woman. He smiled to himself as he placed his sword away. "You simply startled me is all miss," he said gently in his deep voice as he got off his horse. "What is a pretty young girl like you doing out here this late?" he asked smiling, his eyes twinkling. He wasn't the type of guy who would flirt with just anyone. Lets wait and we'll see, he thought. He ran a hand through his hair. "Allow me to introduce myself miss. The name's Jon," he smiled.

Lina smiled gently at Jonathan. She wasn't as nervous as she saw him put his sword away. "Thank you for withdrawing your sword, as I'm sure your skill with it would be enough to cut me down in my tracks." she said with a coy smile. "I'm not so sure about pretty... but this girl is out, enjoying the night. It's surprising how much beauty can be found in such an everyday something." she said with a gentle smile Jon's way. "Jon... what a wonderful name... I'm Lina, it's a pleasure to meet you." she told him with a soft courtsey.

Jon gave her a huge grin. "I may be skilled, but I'm not no where as skilled as his majesty, King Peter. Hes' a legend with his sword skills, something I could not quite make up to." he laughed as he remembered their first duel. That was the day he would remember forever. He smiled down at her. "Lina, thats a pretty name. And it is a good night to be out with the moon shinning,"

Lina smiled back at Jon. "Is that so?" she asked him curiously. She really hadn't heard all too much about the kings and queens of Narnia. After all, she hadn't been above ground for long enough to hear such things. "Thank you..." she spoke gently, a small blush coming over her cheeks. She looked back up at the sky, and then turned to Jon again, "So the night sky isn't always this beautiful?" she questioned him, it was an honest question, she didn't understand that it wouldn't be that way always. Jon laughed as he nodded. "Very much so," he rubbed his arm with a slight wince. He had been slightly injured during the battle with the witch. The arm still bothered him somewhat. He shook his head to clear the memory of that. The commander glanced up at the sky, wandering what his answer shall be. He then sighed. "Not always my dear. There are nights where-" he stopped himself with a blink. He had almost revealed that he was still having bad dreams about a battle that took place years ago. Well so much for impresing her Jon, he scolded himself. "The weather isn't so great," that was the first thing that came to mind. Stupid stupid stupid, he thought to himself.

"Well I suppose that's a good thing, after all what hope would Narnia have if their high king was not skilled?" she said simply, hoping that statement wouldn't be offensive. Lina had noticed him wince as he held his arm. She brought her hand to his arm, gently touching it, looking up at him with concern. "Are you alright?" she questioned him, worry in her eyes. She looked at him with confusion, as he trailed off. wondering why he had stopped what he was going to say. She didn't want to pester him about it though. She simply nodded, "I see, I suppose, that would change it's beauty, but, maybe it's just me but, in my opinion, it will only do that, change it." she told him with another smile. She genuinely hoped that she hadn't said the wrong thing there... she liked Jon, there was something about him, that was special.

Jon nodded to her question. "Its just an old battle wound. I was fighting in the battle with the witch. I had to attend, seeing as I'm the commander of the guards," he told her with a huge grin. "I was arguing with his majesty, wanting to know why I had to be there, then all of a sudden the witch appeared with her army. So I had to be there and fought," Jon made a face. His expression softened somewhat when he looked down at her hand and grinned. He placed his hand over hers gently. He smiled down at her, his sapphire eyes twinkling. "Yes, the night beauty can change, but nothing can change the beauty of a human standing here with me," [OOC: interesting enough]

"I see... does it still hurt?" she questioned, hoping it no longer did, and that it was only a ghost pain. "The comander of the guards?! That's a very prestigeous title... Though, no one should have to fight if they don't want to... she said softly. "Is there a specific reason that you didn't want to be involved in the battle? She blushed, feeling his hand on her own, but she didn't move her hand from his shoulder, she enjoyed the butterflies that came to her stomach when his hand touched her's. It was such a new feeling to her after all. She smiled back gently, her own blue eyes meeting his sapphire ones. The shade of her cheeks grew a much deeper red when he told her that. She didn't even know how to reply to that. She turned her head away from him, still not moving from the position, in an attempt to hide her red and somewhat flustered visage.

"Every now and then," he shrugged. "But I got use to it." Jon smiled. "It is. But I was highly surprise when I found out getting the position. I came from a small village with a small family. To think that someone like me would get such a high position." his voice trailed off as he grinned. "I was already there, getting the men ready. Then someone rode in saying that the witch was coming. I tried making a run for it, but King Peter stopped me," he made a face. "I would love to get him back," he muttered under his breath. "That would teach him not to beat me in countless duels," his grin grew. Jon was a laid-back and easy going guy. He grinned as he saw her blush. He reached out and gently smoothed her cheek. "Did I say something flattering my dear?"

She sent him a gentle, comforting smile. "It's not where you come from that defines a person, but rather what they do, wouldn't you agree?" She nodded listening to the story. She wished that she hadn't been underground the whole entire time. She had to smile at the prospect of him getting the king back, besides, his grin was just as addictive as laughter. When she felt him gently caressing her cheek, her eyes once again caught his. The blush was still evident on her cheek. "Very much so Jon, but that is the problem... I don't know how to take your flattery... I'm undeserving of it..." her voice was soft as she spoke.

Jon smiled at her. "I guess. But there are other people that thinks that way though. A few people in the castle thought that I won't mount up to being the commander. But I showed them wrong though." he then smiled down at her. "I think you deserve it my dear," he said with a smile. He then stroked her cheek before withdrawing his hand. "What makes you think you don't?" there was a gentleness to his voice as he spoke.

"We'll then, we'll just have to show those people they're wrong, just like you showed the people in the castle." she told him with a sincere smile. "After all life is just too short to let biases contort one's veiw of another." she spoke softly. She looked up at him with a weak smile. "Well then... thank you. I suppose there are multiple reasons..." she started off, "One of the primary ones being that I don't understand how one such as yourself, Jon, who, no doubt experiences beauty on a daily basis, can see beauty in someone like myself, while I on the other hand, who has not been accostomed to the beauty you see on a regular basis does not... I guess it's just a matter of taste..." she spoke, the blush still evident on her cheeks.

Jon grinned at her. "It took me a while to mount up to them," he paused, thinking. "I think it was a sword match between the second in command and me. That was wonderful fight there," a huge grin was on his face. The fight lasted only an hour. Peter was about to call it off when the other lunged in, almost killing Jon. The commander had a grin as he told her. "But I think that was going to happen anyways," he shrugged. He then smiled at her. "Aye, that I do. But I lose interest in the ladies of the court very easy. I want someone who understand me for me," he looked at her and smiled.
