Isabella sighed, running her hands over the rough bark of the tree. She knew this part of Narnia well, growing up here. She remebered falling out of this tree, and then burying a dead bird here. She remembered spying of the White Witch's forces from here, too.
Now she was leaning against it, remembering her child hood. Why? Why was this tree so special? Izzy had no clue. As far as she knew, it was just an oak tree, old and gnarled. But for some reason ever since she was small, she had been drawn to it.
She tucked a lock of hair behind her ear, silently cursing herself for not tying it up. Why hadn't she? Why seemed to be the word, or quesion, of the day. She was so caught up in her thoughs, she didn[t notice the shot, staccatto sound of a twig breaking.

Alexander glanced at the girl in front of her, though he was hidden behind a tree, an eyebrow raised as he glanced at his noble talking mare, who seemed quite cranky this morning, and yet suddenly, wanted to do something, and it annoyed Alexander a lot when Electra did that. The mare poked her nose in his ear, and he stifled a laugh, and scratched her behind the ears, feeling less moody and sullen than he would have before. Taking her reins, he walked her forward, keeping his weight off of her back so that when it was important or urgent, he would be able to ride her fast and hard without worrying over the strain.
The blond haired youth glanced at the woman before him, and shrugged at Electra, who's brown eyes looked intrigued, before he felt her nudge him forward. Not this again, he sighed, and did an eye roll, which Electra had to comment to him and only him, "I saw that Alex." A smirk spread across the boy's lips, and it was quite clear he had meant to annoy her. The two bickered and snuggled like an old married couple, each saying their minds, and ignoring what was truly right, and what wasn't. They were both stubborn, and neither would admit that they were wrong on occasion.
For a minute Alexander simply watched the girl in front of him, chewing on a piece of grass in false boredom, before his lovely black mare finally had enough. She stood stock still, as if she were going to bolt at the most sudden noise, her ears pricked up, and then she spoke loudly, "I say! Alex it is absolutely RUDE to stalk a woman like you are!" It looked like Alexander's blue eyes would burst from his sockets. "Why you......I'll get you for this." Alex let his mare know silently, and she pulled her upper lip back, showing her teeth, which was her way of smiling.
Alex then gave up the charade and walked out to where the lady was, and bowed, his cheeks exceptionally bright red, and he glared at his mare out of the corner of his eye. Electra, in the meantime had approached the girl, and was nosing her all over. "I'm sorry, my mare doesn't really have any manners." Alexander spoke, and he could see his horse's irritation as she heard him say that. Her head swung up, and she looked like she would start a brawl as she glared at him. He laughed at her, and her ears flopped, before she mischeviously came over, and began to nibble on his hair, swearing it was hay, not human hair. Alexander then pulled away, but he had a pleasant smile on his lips, so obviously he liked his mare, even if she was occasionally more of a mule then a horse, he loved her.

Isabella nearly jumped at the voices. Then she mentally kicked herself for not hearing them coming. "It's alright. I should have noticed you were here," She said with a chuckle. "I'm Isabella." She smiled. What an interesting day this would shape up to be.
Isabella pushed herself off the tree. She could feel the cold metal of her steel dagger in her boot. She always had a weapon, being a paranoid former soldier. She studied the boy before her, and his horse, and decided that if they wanted to kill her [which she wasn't sure why they would], they would've already.
She was still ready to fight back, if necessary, but hopefully it wouldn't come to that. She hadn't gotten a whole lot of sleep the night before, and she hadn't practiced with a dagger for a while.

Alexander smiled politely, ignoring the nip Electra gave his hand, because it didn't honestly hurt too much, and he simply rolled his eyes, and pushed her nose gently, which was his way of silently asking her to stop. Electra looked disappointed for a moment, but lowered her head, to nibble on the grass beneath her feet, though her ears payed close attention to what the two humans were saying. A grin spread across the handsome youth's lips, and he bowed, his blue eyes sparkling. "I'm Alexander. It's a pleasure to meet you, Isabella. And this..." He stopped speaking for a moment, feeling a nip on his hand again. He whispered something in the mare's ear, and she suddenly stood stock still, and innocent, and it looked as though she would stop messing around after what he had said, which was of special treats that Electra had taken a liking to. "Electra, one of the talking horses of Narnia." Alexander introduced the mare, who's upper lip once again came up, to show her teeth, the way Electra liked to smile and show she was pleased. The black mare seemed very interested in meeting new people, while Alex tended to be a more quiet and somewhat shy guy, which is somewhat odd, but perhaps it was the reason why he had her for a mare, to help him get a bit more bold in speaking, and to help her be a little less impatient and obnoxious.

"It's nice to meet you both,"Isabella replied with her own crooked smile. She was kind of shy, until she got to know somebody. It was mainly because of her paranoia. She would be careful of who she became friends with, and then she would stand by that person's side until they told her to go away.
That was just the way she was. The ever-controdictory, ever-confusing Isabella Sinclair.

Electra smiled her horsish smile, and winked at her rider, who simply sat and stared at her, who was barren, without saddle, nor bridle, because you couldn't tame a wild beast of narnia that way. It was only in trust and friendship that a creature like Electra would be willing to let anyone upon her back. "Right. And it's nice to finally get my rider to talk to somebody." Electra spoke to the girl, an innocent smile on her kissers, and she watched as her human's cheeks turned red again. Alexander couldn't speak for a moment, his mind swirling, and he found it difficult to say anything without yelling at Electra. "Venting your anger would be wiser, my dear." Electra spoke to Alexander in his mind, and he glanced at her, and sighed, a small smile on his lips. "I tend to be more of the anti-social kind of person." He explained to Isabella, trying to keep polite, and hoping that she wouldn't get bored with him, because of the secret conversations he and his mare shared constantly, and how after them, their moods would change. Alexander knew it was definitely weird, an he certainly wouldn't blame her if she thought that.

"Join the club," Isabella replied with a grin. "Unless I run into somebody, I don't speak until spoken to. Blame paranoia. I'm honored to be spoken to."She tapped her fingers on her leg, rhythmically. It was just something she did out of habit. Another weird quirk. She never could figure out why.
This Alexander person was very interesting. He appeared to be able to speak to Electra without actually speaking. After these non-conversations, their moods seemed to change. Or maybe it was all in her head, which was always possible.
She forced her fingers to stop their tapping, lest she be thought too odd to be spoken to. This was actually the highlight of her day.

Alexander smiled at the girl, she and him seemed to have something in common, at least, one thing. Electra looked on interestedly, but covered it up by munching some grass, flicking her tail in Alex's face. He grabbed it quickly, and she seemed shocked for a moment, before her horse-like smile came into place, and she snorted, before she walked away. Alexander grinned and spoke, "Same here. But most of the time it isn't paranoia, I just normally feel as though people just don't understand me." Electra seemed to nod. She at least understood. The mare had been an oddball. While most others in her pasture had wanted to bear any rider, and they did not mind saddle and bridle, Electra had told her mother and father that she felt it marred their freedom, and being talking animals. "As much as I'd most likely join the club, I'd feel better if I could be in a more bold one." Alexander said with a grin, his blue eyes sparkling with mischief, and decent happiness, though he thought to himself, "It won't last." Electra rolled her eyes at him and told him, "Don't be so negative. The less negative you are, the longer it lasts." Alex nodded at her, and she smiled her horse grin before she nudged the girl before them gently, her nose prodding pockets for anything interesting.

Isabella laughed. "Sorry, Electra. I didn't think I'd be meeting anyone during this visit to my childhood. I was jut remembering falling out of that tree, actually,"She said, grimicing as she remembered the pain of falling in the snow. She had never exactly been th most coordinated of beings, unless her life was threatened. Her foster parents had often chided her for not being careful when she had come back with bloodied knees or elbows. She would retort that the eart just didn't like her, and that perhaps it would be best if they just tied her to a bed. They would just shake theri heads and walk away.

Alexander glanced at the tree she mentioned, and an eyebrow raised. "You fell out a tree?" He questioned, before he climbed into it himself, sitting on a sturdy branch, staring down at Electra, who looked uneasy, and the girl he was talking. Feeling like it was too safe just sitting on the branch, he wrapped his legs around it, and then let the rest of his body lower towards the Earth, so he was upside down and swinging a little bit. "Stop showing off!" Electra demanded, and he sighed before he swung a bit too wildly to get back on the branch, and he flew down to meet the ground, not even screaming as most people should when they knew they were going to get hurt. His leg was laying there at a bizarre angle, and he glanced at it for a moment, before he stood up, and bent it back into the right way, and then his blue eyes stared frightened in the girl's direction, hoping she wouldn't think him a demon like others have. "What are you so afraid of?" Electra asked him in his mind, though she saw the little boy that was still hiding in him, not having gone away yet, even while his body and voice was an adult's. "She'll hate me and call me a demon...just like my fiance did..." His eyes filled, and he turned away from the girl, lowering his head to his knees, feeling remarkably pathetic, but he couldn't help it. Electra looked alarmed, and it was obvious she had never known that he had a fiance once, but her eyes were soft, and she nudged his back gently with her nose, soothing.

"Hey, are you okay," Isabella asked. He looked hurt, more than just physically. She knelt down next to him, on the opposite side of Electra. "I mean you did just fall out of a tree. That can kind of hurt."She was making a weak attempt at a joke. Sh wasn't scared of him; just scared for him. When she was ten, the tree had been a bit closer to the ground, and yet she hadn't been able to walk for weeks. She knew he was okay pysically, most likely. But the was he appered to be hurt....it made her heart ache.

Alexander stared at her. His blue eyes glanced at her confused. Why wasn't she running, throwing a cross at him, calling him a demon or something of the sort? He blinked at her, surprised. Where was the screaming in horror, the distant stare as one stares at someone people think is imaginary, a dream? Alexander found it very unusual that this girl did neither of the things he had thought she would, and his face loosened it's fearful look, and became a little bit more relaxed. "I'm fine. As you can see there's no scratch on me." Alexander spoke, sitting on the ground and simply stared at the woods around him. A smile came across his lips unexpectedly, as he looked at the girl, Isabella. She was definitely different from his fiance. For one, his fiance had been blond, for another, the girl he was talking to now seemed to be able to look past oddities.

"So what happend there? You know, other than gravity taking it's revenge,"She asked, sitting down next to him. She raised her eyebrow quizzically. It wasn't every day she saw somebody break the laws of normality."When I fell out of that tree, it was a bit closer to the ground, and I still wasn't able to walk for weeks. I envy you."
She smiled softly. She had known that he was different, from when she first saw him. But this was just strange. But a good strange, not an 'Oh!-let's-kill-him' strange.

Alexander smiled for a minute, finding it interesting that she still spoke to him. But when she mentioned envy of him, his face turned hard, and somewhat cold. There was something else in his eyes, a look of pain, and distress. He really did not want her to think it was so great to be like he was, a freak. "No! Envying me is not the right way to think. It sucks, being like this." Alexander looked away for a minute, rubbing his stinging eyes, feeling the gentle touch of his mare's nose, and felt it was enough to help him explain to this girl, to make her understand why it wasn't great, why it was terrible. "I don't age, whatsoever. No matter what, I will stay the age of 16 forever. I may have children, but once they get older, wouldn't it be weird to find yourself living longer, to know your wife and kids would die, but you wouldn't?" Alexander questioned, the memories injuring him more than any life-threatening thing could. The blond closed his eyes for a moment, as he remembered her laugh, and the way she smiled at him, and looked into his eyes, always filled with love...until the day that fire came, and he had gotten the pets out hurriedly, but the building collapsed on him. His fiance had looked at him when he stood as if he was a ghost. "DEMON!" she had shouted, her eyes filled with tears. "WHERE is my future husband?!" "I'm right here." Alex had tried to explain, but she shook her head, and turned away, leaving for good. Tears rolled down his cheeks unwillingly, and he rubbed them away as fast as possible. "One day my fiance saw what unnatural thing I had, and she couldn't handle it. She called me a demon, through her cross at me, anything she could to keep a curse from falling upon her." Alexander spoke, as he watched the trees rustle, as if moved by his tale. Electra nuzzled his cheek gently, and licked at his tears, trying to make him feel better, but it was hard for him to let any of it go.

Isabella felt her heart drop. She hugged him briefly, then released. "I'm so sorry. That must've been hell for you. I can remotely understand." She stopped briefly. Then she took a deep breath."Somebody who I really loved died in the war. He didn't even know that I loved him; I was going to tell him after the battle but...one of the Witch's Minotaur's struck him down. I watched him die, knowing there was nothing I could do. I would give anything just to see him again, to hear his laugh, or see his smile." She focused on the ground beneath her, attempting to fight back the tears that threatened to burst out again. His name had been Gregory. He was an elf, who had joined the Narnian army. She had become close friends with him, and had fallen in love with him. She had been disguised as a boy at this point, so she couldn't exactly tell him. But she swore to herself that after the battle, she would tell him.
Then he had been killed, before her very eyes. His last words were, 'I know'. That had been when she had began guarding her heart, not letting anybody in, but putting on a happy face for the world.
